I started my training at Sheffield College of Art. After winning a scholarship from Punch Magazine, I studied illustration at the Royal College of Art, London, under Edward Bawden and John Nash. Bawden has had a long lasting influence on my work, which is often based on half-recollected memories of childhood, with undercurrents of humour and satire, in a blend of reality and fantasy. Living on the South Coast I’m attracted by the richness and variety of seaside imagery. I have worked for The Observer, Longmans, A & C Black, Oxford University Press, Lion and Unicorn Press, Faber and Faber and Gilbeys Wines. I am a member of the Rye Society of Artists and exhibit widely in the South East.
